Electronic Identity Card – eID
eID cards are an important pillar in a process of introducing of the electronic services that shall enable the citizens to communicate with the government over the Internet. The fundamental requirement for accessing these services is a secure authentication and an unambiguous identification of a person. It’s the eID card that shall stand in a role of a trustworthy medium to access the eGovernment services. It is a secure medium for storing the identity data of a citizen – the citizen’s electronic identity. The eID can also be used as a Secure Signature Creation Device (SSCD) for storing qualified certificates and creating Qualified Electronic Signature (QES).
